什么是銀行

　　Whenever banks are mentioned in China， it is natural to be associated with the People's Bank of China. This is because its branches can be found in the cities in this country， and this bank is commonly known as the leading body of the Chinese banking system which includes state commercial banks such as the Agricultural Bank of China， Bank of China， the Construction Bank of China， the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China， Bank of Communications， and other banking institutions.

　　在中國，人們一提到銀行，就自然而然地和中國人民銀行聯(lián)系起來。這是因?yàn)樗姆种C(jī)構(gòu)在全國的各城市都能找到，通常被認(rèn)為是包括國有商業(yè)銀行，比如中國農(nóng)業(yè)銀行、中國銀行、中國建設(shè)銀行、中國工商銀行、交通銀行，以及其它金融機(jī)構(gòu)在內(nèi)的中國金融體系的主管部門。

　　But what is a bank then？ It may be advisable to define a bank as an institution for doing financial work. Here， each specialized bank has its own business activities，but there are two basic functions in common.

　　那么，什么是銀行？將銀行解釋為辦理金融業(yè)務(wù)的機(jī)構(gòu)可能是較為恰當(dāng)?shù)摹＿@里，每家專業(yè)銀行都有各自的業(yè)務(wù)范圍，但一般有兩項(xiàng)基本職能。

　　One is to accept deposits of money from customers；The other is to make loans to the customers who wish to borrow. With the continuous development of China‘s economy and trade， especially after the country has opened to the outside world， banks will be playing more and more important role in our lives.　　

　　一是吸收客戶的存款；二是向那些想借款的客戶發(fā)放貸款。隨著中國經(jīng)濟(jì)和貿(mào)易的持續(xù)發(fā)展，尤其是對外開放以后，銀行將會在我們的生活中發(fā)揮越來越重要的作用。
